My birthday present.
What color should I paint it?

There is still some prettiness left

I don't know how much longer I will be able to post pretty photos from the Bunderosa.
This heat is killing everything! The trees are even dying now. So sad :(
I do pray we start getting some rains soon.
Anyway, hope you enjoy these.

In a pickle

We have managed to grow cucumbers during all this drought. I finally had enough to make a batch of pickles. I was wanting a sweet crisp garlic dill with a little zing. I combined a sweet pickle recipe that my aunt gave me and added a kosher dill pickle mix, extra garlic and a hot pepper. They turned out so delicious! I only made 6 quarts this round. Hopefully I can make more later.
I sure will be glad when this hot spell is over! It has been unbearable!

An Affair

an Affair of the Heart, that is. 1st daughter and I went today. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, spent money and got sore feet. There were so many booths full of baby tulle skirts, colorful hairbows, birdhouses, jewelry and on and on! I bought a birdhouse and a pair of pretty sandals. No, they are not comfortable.
For those of you who read the recently deleted post about the Affair of the Heart and the BBQ I have something to say. First of all, the dinner cooking in the KIA was a joke. No one commented except my daughter and she said when she first read it she thought I was serious. She has only known me for 28+ years! You would think she would know my humor by now. Anyway, for those of you that read such post know that I was joking.
Thank you!

What's going on in our woody necks!

All we Okies want to talk about is the weather.
It is sooo hot and dry.
The temps have stayed at 100 plus for weeks now.

Even my chickens are worried.
"I'm worried".

And thirsty.
"I'm so thirsty".

Hubs is determined to get use of his new
mower.

I say "Give it up, hubs"!

It's pointless to water the garden anymore.
So he has resorted to "dirting" the garden.

This heat has played havoc on my skin.

"My skin is so dry".

My coleus has even dried up!

My coleus

The dawg keeps digging and digging for cooler dirt to lie in.
If he keeps digging he'll end up in China!

"But I don't want to live in China".

To all my Okie friends, stay cool!

Butterflies and Zinnies!

These photos were taken while attempting to keep the zinnias watered.
The butterflies made the task worthwhile.

Summertime on the Bunderosa

This is the little red hen that I hatched in the incubator in February.
She's so pretty!
The fuzzy headed rooster.
He thinks he owns the place now.
Feedin' the babies
Baby Bluebirds safe in their home.

HARVEST BEGINNINGS
We managed to get about 2 gallons of new potatoes.
That's better than none at all.
Anaheim Chili Peppers
First time to grow eggplant. So far, so good!
Sweet onions
Garlic harvest

Birthday Guy
My baby boy turned 25 on the 7th!
Love you, Zack!

Independence Day Weekend
Homemade Butterfinger ice cream was a must.
I'm pretty sure Chase liked it.

I took a lot of pics but they are mostly of our family.
Anyway...
The guys put on a great fireworks display in the evening.
And a good time was had by all.

Bunderosa Independence Day weekend

Old Glory!

Front Porch
An antique watering can with some our sunflowers
and a vintage concrete redbird make a nice centerpiece.
On the wicker sofa is a quilt top made by my mother in law.

Stars and Stripes and Sunnies
on the end of the old clothes line pole.

Down by the gate
Old Glory, red ,white and blue painted gourds in the wheelbarrow
and some pretty marigolds in an old galvanized tub welcomes our weekend guests.

Have a great Independence Day to all my blogger followers!
